A MARINE AND HIS TRAINING...

I got a call this morning from a source saying that MICHAEL KIRKHAM finally got charged with a double murder over the weekend. I found out after some research that this was not the case and Mike actually answered his cell phone, confirming he has yet to be arrested. I can only hope that they are taking their time, making a solid case against him.

Anyway, while searching the area news rags, I came across THIS STORY that happened in midtown Atlanta. Bravo!

How many of you are ready and able to protect yourself and family to the end? Our streets are getting more and more dangerous. If you don't know how to, I suggest you take a course in Krav Maga.

THANK YOU ADAM

For as long as anyone can remember, Lance Cpl. Adam Lucas wanted to be a soldier. On Friday in Iraq, the 20-year-old died a Marine.
Lucas, 20, lost his life in the western Iraqi province of Anbar, half a world away from his fiancee in Virginia and his 1997 Dodge Ram 4x4, which was parked in his parents' Greensboro driveway. The Department of Defense wrote that he died somewhere in the province "while conducting combat operations against enemy forces."

"He loved it," his father, Kevin, said Saturday. "He thought he was doing what he needed to do and thought he was doing a job that needed to be done."

Lucas had been preparing for the job since he was a boy playing war.

He eventually ditched his plastic pistols for the uniform and the rigor of the high school Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. In that setting, he distinguished himself as eager and polite.

"He was always willing to pitch in and help," said Erwin McClendon, his commander at Northwest Guilford High School. "He looked forward to going into the Marines."

Lucas joined the service in July 2004, a few weeks after his graduation. He became a member of the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines based in Camp Lejeune. This spring, he went to Iraq, his family said.

Lucas hoped to return to North Carolina in the fall. And, in 2007, he planned to be a groom.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK...

We must face the fact that the pistol is an emergency device. Very few people - even the most adventurous - run into a need to shoot to save their lives. Statistically, there is no real need to shoot a pistol, only to have a pistol, since the mere possession of a sound firearm is nearly always enough to stop a fight. However, one's state of mind dominates the scene here. The man who is carrying a pistol and is fully aware of his ability to use it well can solve the problem. A higher degree of marksmanship is an essential tool to the proper combat mindset. If you know that you have the upper hand, you almost always do have it.

FIND OF THE MONTH...

I had a fellow comment in one of my posts and I found out that he has a blog. I urge everyone to take some time and read thru his archives. I urge all of you to read JD Allen's Mouth of the Brazos. He is one funny son of a bitch and he told me he does not write to be funny, but it comes out that way. Go read it.

As soon as I get my shit together, I'll have his link in my sidebar.

GUN OF THE WEEK...

Springfield XD .45 ACP

An old repo buddy from Atlanta stopped by and he had the new XD in 9mm. It was late and I did not get a chance to fire it, but I really liked it's feel, with the exception that it felt somewhat front heavy. I went down to my local gun store and took a look and feel of the .45 model (I am not a big fan of 9mm). I really liked the .45 and with practice, could get used to the heavy front end. Plus it holds 13+1 rounds. It has been heavily advertised in all my gun mags and now I see why. a good deal at under $700.00

CHUMP OF THE WEEK...

I was hunting for an absconder, Joe Vassallo, from Louisiana who was wanted on skipping out on drug charges. As always, I Googled the name and came across THIS STORY. When I found it, it had a video link of the news story and when I showed it to my client he said "That's him". It was pretty easy to find him after that.

He may get the vote for Chump of the Year.

DAVE CAUGHT DRINKING...

(CLICK FOR LARGER IMAGE)

What red blooded American wouldn't watching a ballgame in a brand new stadium? This is First Horizon Park and is one hell of a stadium. It's the Florida Marlins farm team. My son (in pic) caught a homerun later in the game.
